The Glenlivet is a famous single malt whisky brand and the first Speyside Scotland distiller to be legally licensed to distill whiskey in 1824. The distillery is located in Ballindalloch in Moray, Scotland, and is owned by the French giant alcoholic beverages company Pernod Ricard. The Glenlivet owner George Smith took the brave step of applying for the first license to distill following the Excise Act of 1823.
