The rose wine type has forged its way to becoming among the famous wine in Kenya. It is made from a wide variety of grapes and is widely found all around the world. Rose winemaking involves minimal grape skin contact with the juice to impart the pink color it usually displays. In essence, rose wine is a fermented red wine as it is generally made from red wine grapes, but only minimal contact with the grape skins is allowed, typically few hours disqualifying it as red wine type. The winemaker has total control over rose wine color and removes the grape skins when the perfect color they desire is attained. Where the winemaker desires to impart more tannin to rose wine, some juice is extracted at an early stage while the remaining juice in the vats is intensified and becomes more concentrated. The early removed juice can be fermented separately to produce rose wine.
Depending on the type of grape and winemaking techniques used in crafting rose wine, the rose wine color can range from a pale orange to a vivid purple. In Spain, rose wine is labeled as Rosado while in Italy, it is labeled as Rosato. Rose wines can be crafted in different styles from still, sparkling to semi-sparkling with a varied range of sweetness levels. Though it is usually discouraged, rose wine can be made by blending red wines and white wines. In France, this process is forbidden by law, except for Champagne for rose champagne. Most rose champagnes are usually exclusively made from white Chardonnay grapes with only small red wine percentage added for coloring, and to alter the taste.
Rose wine very flexible and pleases different wine palates, especially with our ladies. They come in different varieties, shades, flavors, and textures. Depending on the type of grape used in making the rose, the wine displays various flavors from red fruit, cherries, citrus, flowers, and melon. On the palate, it may be dry, crisp, and fresh. The rose wine is best served when chilled to give you savory flavors. Rose wine excellently compliments light food that includes Asian, seafood, and chicken. This wine is perfect for BBQs, light lunches, and family gatherings. Rose wines are wonderful wines that beg to beg to be drunk and enjoyed anytime.
