Maker's Mark brand

Maker's Mark is a unique and flavorful handmade American bourbon whiskey. It is produced in small-batch (not massed produced) in America Loretto, Kentucky, by Beam Suntory. Marker's is bottled at 90 U.S. proof (45% ABV), which is the lowest proof of any U.S. whiskey distillery. The low proof of Marker's bourbon helps it to retain a rich flavor. Marker's Mark whisky brand was founded by T. William "Bill" Samuels Sr., when he purchased the "Burks' Distillery" in Loretto, Kentucky, on October 1953 and started production in 1954. The first batch was bottled in 1958. Bill was a craftsman deep within his soul and was focused and passionate about his whiskey.

Bill Samuels Sr. set out to find a flavor that would make his bourbon the way he will enjoy himself, a whiskey that doesn't "blow ears off." Bill cooked up the recipe for his bourbon in the kitchen with his wife, Margie, using an oven instead of a still. He came up with the recipe to make his bourbon whiskey uniquely by not using the usual rye as part of the mash and instead used red winter wheat to reduce the burning sensation. Maker's Mark whisky uses locally sourced red winter wheat, locally grown corn, and malted barley in the Mash Bill. Bill created a premium bourbon that is not bitter, soft, and full-flavored. The red winter wheat imparts the palate sweetness that Maker's Mark is known for.

Maker's Mark is packaged in iconic squarish bottles sealed with hand-dipped red wax that oozes down each bottle. William Samuels' wife, Marjorie "Margie" Samuels, thought up the wax dipping that gives the bottle its unique look as well as giving this spirit its name, the "mark of the marker" and drew its label. Each bottle is hand-dipped in tubs of molten wax, giving it a glossy red headdress that has come to define the Marker's Mark whiskey brand. This distinct look gives it a standout on the back of every bar and every wine & spirit shops. The Maker's Mark distillery has access to some of the best water for making an excellent bourbon whiskey. It is the only distillery in the U.S. with its own water source and watershed. The distillery is surrounded by pure calcium and magnesium-rich water that makes the best sour mash, while the limestone in Kentucky filters out iron from the water.

Maker's Mark whiskey is aged for at least six years. The Marker's spirit is aged to taste and not just a case of bottling after a set time. It is only ready when the master distiller and expert tasting panel tasters agree that it is ready. Marker's Mark prides itself on going "one bottle at a time, every time." At Marker's distillery, things have continued to be done the same way since the first bottle was made, yet always it seems there is something new and exciting going on at the distillery. Bill Samuels, Sr., created a premium bourbon whisky that is today is among the big whisky brands. Maker's distillery is one of the few distillers to hand-rotate the barrels. The barrels are rotated from the upper to the lower levels of the aging warehouses to even out temperature differences and produce the best possible whiskey. The barrel rotation ensures that the Marker's bourbon in all the barrels has the same quality and taste.

Maker's Mark is a premium bourbon whiskey with a distinctive look and exceptional quality. It is made slowly in small batches, and it is a smooth, sweet, and approachable American bourbon with an easy finish, which is a real contrast to the harsh whiskeys. If you like a smooth, full-flavored bourbon to sip neat on its own, over ice with a splash of water or something for your favorite cocktail, Maker's Mark is an excellent whisky for you and will never disappoint.
